On site, the team is working on the final site preparations before we start construction. Over the past four months 35,000 cubic meters of pre-load fill material (the equivalent of 14 Olympic swimming pools) has been sitting on the site to settle, ensuring that the ground is solid and ready for construction. Pre-load is an essential stage of site preparation where a heavy load of soil fill materials is placed over the site surface allowing for the soft layers of compressible soils to consolidate.
At HUB, the pre-load has now done its job in preparing the strength of the soils below, and is in the process of being removed to allow for construction to start very soon.
